Amy reminded me we would be meeting in Lent for our first meeting. We decided to pick a feast day to meet so we could enjoy some of the food that is talked about in the book.

Our first book club meeting is being held on:
March 25 - Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord
Location is still being considered. We want an outdoor location. I want it to be pretty. I'm open to ideas. A farm location could be fun...if anybody can think of somewhere let me know.

Wild and Free Mama Gathering: February 23, 6:30-8:30
A fun part of this homeschool adventure is sharing it with each other. People sharing what they do is what brought me back to this wonderful community.
It's hard to get out but please come and help inspire each other.

Progress Notes:

Farmer Boy does not disappoint. It does not take long before the kids are drawn in. We are on chapter 3 where the teacher does not let those bad boys get the best of him...
And Almonzo wakes up and forgets it's his birthday..Can you imagine?
And then this...
"Well, son, I'll leave you to figure it out." And he went into the barn.
Then Almanzo knew that he was really old enough to do important things all by himself."
That's what I want my kids to "get". Being trusted with helping out the family is a gift they should want to earn.
And what a good reminder to us mama's that having one-on-one time with kids really impacts them. Because Almonzo stayed home from school he was able to work along side his mother and father.
We want to be with our kids in special ways, but reading this chapter reminded me that simple everyday tasks can be shared with just one child and can make them feel special.
But now...let me be totally REAL here. We are on page 60. We have read a little bit each day this week...
Today Jack says... "Mama, is this book about Almonzo?"
Homeschool for the WIN!! Really buddy...?
