Sacred Heart Wild and Free Book Club

Hey there homeschooling mamas..

Amy and I are excited to invite you to our Sacred Heart Wild and Free Book Club.  Before I jump right into the good stuff, let me explain.





I fell in love with homeschooling when Emily was 3 years-old.  I knew it was for me.  I read all that I could and prepared for the big event of homeschooling my first born.  And as you all know homeschooling is not an event as much as a lifestyle.

But, life got crazy and I lost my way.  I began to do school at home.  My main objective was to just to get it over with.  I lost my vision.  I lost  heart for what I was doing.  One day I looked at the big yellow bus..and I RAN after it.



I put my kids in school but I was never able to quiet the voice inside telling me I was meant to homeschool.

But I did not want to ever go back to the way I had been homeschooling before.  So, I had three years to think about what went wrong and wonder why did I ever start homeschooling?

After much prayer and reading I was able to remember that putting our relationships first was going to be the best for them.  Giving them the best part of my day and learning along side them would be a gift to all of us.  I wanted to walk along side them and learn with them.  I WANTED to be with them reading and learning and experiencing things together.

I wanted to look back when I was all done raising them and know I did not waste my time being their mama.




I found Wild and Free online, I found The Read  Aloud Revival, Cindy Rollins, and Charlotte Mason.  I found my vision.  I could enjoy homeschooling again with all it's hard and beautiful. I had to change everything.  There are lots of people doing this wonderful crazy life and I wanted in!


So...this is my first step to keeping my heart in the game and my vision set..asking you all to join me...







Read aloud to your kids with me.  Take a part of your school day, make a hot drink, grab a blanket and read!  Just start!  You have 11 kids..great...just read what you can out loud.  Have them journal or draw pictures while you read out loud to them.  You make a scrapbook after a great trip...think  of this as your great trip..in your living room..with Laura and Almonzo.





Then in 4 weeks meet with Amy and I and celebrate you and your homeschool.  We will eat, because that's largely what is talked about in Farmer Boy..we will let the kids run...
Wild and Free..because that is what they do best.
